Commercial gas metering and remote monitoring
Gas is the utility that quietly costs the most and tells you the least. A meter ticks away in a plant room or riser cupboard, nobody reads it until a bill looks off, and by the time anyone looks properly the money has already gone out of the door.
We work with commercial and industrial sites, housing associations, energy brokers and utilities to change that. Go Monitor supplies gas meters, installs and commissions them, connects them to our LoRaWAN and NB-IoT networks, streams the data into our cloud platform, and turns it into bills and carbon reports you can actually use. One provider, one contract, one point of accountability.
End-to-end gas metering, under one roof
Most gas metering projects drift because they get carved up. The meter comes from one firm, the AMR module from another, the data platform from a third, and the carbon reporting gets bolted on by a spreadsheet at year end. We keep the whole loop in-house: diaphragm meters from U6 through U160, rotary and turbine meters for industrial loads, AMR modules, network infrastructure, the cloud, a billing engine, and SECR-ready carbon outputs.
Fewer suppliers. Fewer handoffs. Fewer things to chase when a meter stops reading.
Remote gas monitoring that earns its place
Remote monitoring only pays for itself if it changes a decision. Ours does. You get reads at half-hourly, hourly or daily granularity depending on the application, with exceptions pushed to your team by email, webhook or API. Load spikes, meters that have gone quiet, out-of-hours usage, or consumption breaking through a budget threshold.
Housing teams use it to flag dormant meters and possible leaks before tenants ring. Energy managers catch process drift weeks before the bill lands. Brokers use the audit trail as part of their client reporting. MOPs and MAMs plug it into an existing commercial offer as the data layer they do not want to build.
LoRaWAN communications for estates and hard-to-reach sites
LoRaWAN is our default for sites where you have, or could have, a cluster of meters inside a reasonable radius: universities, factories, industrial parks, hospitals, social housing blocks, distribution centres. One gateway covers a campus. Battery life runs in years rather than months. Signal punches through risers, plant rooms and sub-basements where cellular gives up.
We design and run the network ourselves. That includes site surveys, gateway placement, private or shared-network options, and ongoing device management for firmware and security patches. If you already have a LoRaWAN network we can join it rather than duplicate it.
NB-IoT communications for dispersed and public-network sites
Not every portfolio is a campus. If your meters are scattered across postcodes it might not make sense to deploy new gateways everywhere. NB-IoT uses the public mobile networks, with strong indoor coverage and very low power draw, so a meter in a corner shop talks back just as happily as a meter in a warehouse.
We specify the right technology per site rather than forcing one onto the other. Most real portfolios are mixed. Our platform takes feeds from LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, 4G fallback and hardwired connections, and treats them the same way downstream.
One cloud platform for monitoring, billing and reporting
The Go Monitor cloud brings every meter, every read and every site into one view. You can get dashboards by portfolio, site, tenant, circuit or cost centre, automated reads dropping straight into invoicing, itemised tenant billing reports, and a documented REST API if you would rather push the data into a BMS, ERP or your existing reporting stack.
Because we own the platform, we can build what clients actually need instead of waiting for a roadmap somewhere else. Housing teams get per-flat views with alerting for faulty or dormant meters. Operators with tenant recharges get a billing workflow that holds up to audit. Energy consultants get white-labelled portals for their end clients.
Gas meter replacement programmes, planned not painful
Commercial gas meters have a certification life, typically 10 or 20 years depending on the type. Once they fall out of certification they have to be replaced, budgeted or not. The December 2026 shift to half-hourly data across the industry is pulling a lot of older, dumb meters out of service earlier than planned.
We run replacement programmes the way they should be run, full estate survey, asset register, risk based schedule, compliant installation, commissioning, purge and relight where needed, and the new meter connected to your chosen communications on day one.
Finance with maintenance and warranty included
Gas metering rarely wins the capital argument against the thing that actually makes a business money. So for most clients we can fund the meters, the AMR modules and the installation, and you pay a single monthly or quarterly figure that covers maintenance, warranty and platform access for the life of the agreement.
Terms flex to the portfolio. A housing association might take a 10-year programme across 4,000 flats with a phased rollout. A manufacturer might fund 20 large industrial meters and the network over five years. If a meter fails in service, we replace it. If firmware needs patching, we patch it. You will not get a line-item bill every time something needs attention.
Built-in carbon calculations for SECR, ESOS and net zero
Every kWh running through a Go Monitor meter is converted to tonnes CO2e using either the latest DESNZ conversion factors (updated annually). Or a live feed of carbon generation mix and intensity from the National Grid. You can view Scope 1 emissions at portfolio, site or asset level, export to CSV or PDF, and pull the same numbers by API into whatever you use for SECR disclosures, ESOS Phase 4 audit packs or internal net zero tracking.
Gas rarely sits on its own in a carbon report, so our platform also handles Scope 2 electricity and, where the data is available, Scope 3 distribution losses, plus TM44 and DEC support. Gas metering becomes one feed into the whole picture instead of a separate exercise every year.
Talk to us about your gas metering estate
Every estate is different. The quickest next step is a short conversation. We will look at your meter list, supply points, current contracts and reporting obligations, and come back with a costed plan (with or without finance) and a realistic timeline.
